Some people would likely see Emeka Ike, as a controversial actor, popular Nollywood actress, Clarion Chukwura, has expressed optimism that Ike would handle the affairs of Actors Guild of Nigeria very well. She said she believes he is not a trouble maker. Clarion told Punch “Emeka Ike is my colleague and a friend. He has spoken to me on several occasions on what he wants to do with the Actors Guild of Nigeria and I am eager to see him achieve his set goals.    Emeka Ike is not a trouble maker. If he was, then why would such a number of state chairmen of the AGN support him? If the majority feels he can turn things then he is not a trouble maker. With several self-produced movies to her credit,many would believe that she has the backing of rich family members .However, she says in a chat with Vanguard       ‘Before I got into Nollywood, I was already doing business.I used to sell stuff, so I had my money to put into it, and my mum supported me with a loan. She collected her money back though, so there was no sentiment attached. I won’t say it was easy starting out because I spent about N3m in making my first movie, and that was quite a lot in 2005. I don’t actually get Executive Producers for my movies; I do that myself. Not like I don’t believe in going all out to source for funds, but it’s just not my thing. I had someone once who wanted to sponsor my movie, and we did that. But before the movie came out, they were already on my neck asking for their money. I had to return it to them after we finished filming; we had not even finished editing ...

Famous Nollywood star, Shan George has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to beam its searchlight on the movie industry after the ‘Bank of Industry’ denied receiving $200million from the former President Goodluck Jonathan for the movie industry, globally known as Nollywood. While speaking with newsmen recently, the actress said she believed that the money had been squandered by some people in the industry.  In her words; “I’m using this fine morning to ask this fine question. A 24-year-old lady, now in police net, has explained while she stabbed her fiancé, Edet Ebong, to death with a kitchen knife. The lady, identified as Blessing Edet, told our correspondent that the quarrel and subsequent fight which led to Ebong’s death was over sex. Blessing, residing at Ogombo village, Lekki in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, said Ebong got angry and pounced on her after she refused him sex. Recalling the fateful incident of August 18, she said:

I think my marriage was an experience which I don’t regret. He was the last child, so his family members kind of interfered in the marriage, which is naturally normal. He was okay with the kind of work I did and he kind of interfered as a good husband. We couldn’t find common grounds and agree on certain things so we fell out.  My husband and I were far apart from each other, maybe being together would have helped. My marriage fell out because of differences. For now I just want to fix my life, no marriage in the picture.”
